There is a Great New Senior Living Center in Savannah, NY. The former Savannah Elementary School has been purchased and renovated by Glenn and Jolene Martin of Clyde, NY. They have a strong desire to brighten the day of everyone they meet and they noticed the old school building sitting there and a spark grew. They were not sure at first if the building would be used for church functions, as a rec center or even a community building to be used for a number of reasons. After careful consideration and help from Above, the idea came across their path of a place where our seniors could come and live safely, secure and with a lot of smiling faces around. No one should be alone if they choose not to be and everyone deserves to have the joy of being around people to brighten each day.
The renovations began - December of 2017 - It took a lot of work and a lot of determination and careful planning to pull the project off. So many different people were employed in the project - creating job opportunities for many as we built, renovated, repaired, decorated and finally opened the doors June 1, 2019. The finished product has 38 apartments to rent out to anyone that is the age of 55 years or older and can live independently. As we like to say - "Independently Yet Never Alone." Brick Corner Senior Independent Living. 1604 Grand Avenue, Savannah, NY 13146 Glenn and Jolene wanted to make this place a fun, safe, caring, and all inclusive place for our seniors to live. They certainly have accomplished that goal with Meals included in the rent as well as Electric, Heat, Cable TV, Internet, Room Cleaning, Lawn Maintenance, and Trash. The Goal of safety was addressed and Glenn and Jolene had a security system installed as well as employing two night watchman so that there is always staff on watching over the building and the residents. The Goal of laughter and fun was easily accomplished with hand picked staff that want to Enjoy each day they are here with our residents and other staff members. They added an activities program and each day there are numerous fun entertaining activities planned. We hooked up with many local organizations - such as SOAR and SPAN, the Clyde Library, Savannah Chamber of Commerce, and RTS bus service to aide in keeping things fresh and exciting and ever changing yet having a solid base in the communities surrounding us. Brick Corner Senior Independent Living invites everyone to take a tour, stop in and say hello. Come see what Glenn and Jolene have accomplished along with many great people along the way. Even though we could never have done all of this without the vision that Glenn and Jolene sparked in all of us, they will be the first to tell you it has been a Group Effort and just as our residents will never stand alone, neither will Glenn and Jolene. They will always be surrounded by the folks they have pulled together to create our new family. Thank You Glenn and Jolene. |
